A Mythocritical Approach of the Novel „Comoara“ (The Treasure) by Ioan Slavici
The article proposes a mythical approach of the novel „Comoara“ (The Treasure) by Ioan Slavici, which is leading us to the point that there are three myths in the text: one is about the treasures guarded by the Devil, the second one about the temptation of the evil and the last is the labyrinth myth. But theese three represent a single myth because the believes about cursed treasures which are spreded across all Europe are recent forms of mythical
scenarios about heroes which achieve symbols of immortal knowledge after going through a labyrinth. The monster guarding the symbol of immortal knowledge (the snake, Meduza, the dragon) becomes in Christian Europe the Devil.
